Nikola Watté
Nikola Watté, a landscape architect by training, is dedicated to revealing the harmony between the genius of living things and human ingenuity through his projects. He starts with the idea that all the elements necessary for a project already##MORE##exist in the environment. The role of the landscape architect, through analysis, skills, collaborations, and a forward-looking approach, is to provide a range of solutions that nourish the vision of reconciliation between humans and nature. This involves reconciling humanity's desire for development, curiosity, and thirst for experimentation with a deep understanding of nature, preserving it, and making the best use of it, following the philosophy of Gilles Clément: 'Working with nature rather than against it.' Nikola Watté works on different scales, from gardens to vast territories, from natural to industrial, from private to social. He dedicates time to analyzing the situations he encounters, his approach to issues, and the success or failure of his actions. Today, Nikola Watté enjoys exploring various spatial and temporal scales, experimenting with and analyzing landscape practice in a Mediterranean context characterized by drought and the influence of vernacular practices. He also addresses future challenges such as energy transition, urban density, and the preservation of natural environments. Furthermore, Nikola Watté shares his knowledge with numerous projects, whether they involve private gardens, large-scale projects, territorial initiatives, participatory democracy, urban development, or natural spaces. He regularly collaborates with multidisciplinary teams that enrich his approach, a tradition firmly established since the early days of his career. In parallel with his professional activities, Nikola Watté has also been actively involved in the associative field within the French Federation of Landscape (FFP) over the past ten years. His involvement in this organization has allowed him to contribute significantly to the acquisition of the landscape designer title, a major goal for the profession. For the past five years, he has held the position of Vice President Delegate for International Relations within the FFP. In this role, he has worked to strengthen ties and exchanges between landscape professionals in France and abroad, promoting the dissemination of best practices and knowledge in the field of landscaping on an international scale. His commitment to the association reflects his passion for the profession and his desire to promote the essential role of landscape architects in creating harmonious and sustainable environments.
